Today started off like every other day. I was doing the finances and also doing laundry which is my attention turned to other pressing matters.
I honestly hate doing laundry because it takes all day just to do a couple loads of laundry. Seriously it really does. Our washing machine and dryer are on their last leg. We have six in our household so having appliances that are efficient at there job is a must. I have been putting it off for far too long but not anymore.
Did you ever realize how many choices there are when it comes to washing machines? You have three categories: front loaders, traditional top loaders with the agitator, and also top loaders without the agitator. Now within each of those categories the pure vast amount of choices that one has is overwhelming.
I thought that a little research would be fun, insightful, and helpful. I went to the usual places like ‘Consumer Reports’, ‘Good Housekeeping’, ‘CNet’, ‘Epinions’, and etc. Wow my head was spinning. I did manage to narrow my category down to only front loaders. Of course that was the easy part.
All the manufacturers have many different models that have varying features. I read posts by people that had issues with everything from customer service, to mold. Yes I was amazed about the mold issue which truly was a big OH NO, ARE YOU FREAKIN KIDDING ME. Honestly how is that even possible? Worst yet was how expensive these appliances are and none of them even have great warranties.
Out of all the brands “LG’, ‘Samsung’, and ‘Whirpool’ seemed to stand out more than the other brands. Then of course I ran into even more walls. Most of the models that I researched weren’t available around me and sorry to say, I’m not okay with ordering something online without touching it. I was at my last straw and ready to just give up for the day.
My husband wanted to go to the Barnes & Noble. While we were out of the house, we decided that maybe we were doing this backwards. Meaning, maybe we should go and touch the different brands and then look up the reviews. Which turned out to be the best idea.
Long story short, we went to our local family-owned appliance store, and listened to what the guy had to say. He did show us a GE set that wasn’t even one of my brand choices that I researched. Even better was that it was a cheaper model. We almost went with the GE set but instead went with the LG set just for the “True Steam” feature that was also officially certified by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America to be “Asthma and Allergy friendly”. That was the deal maker for us. Strangely enough, the sales consultant didn’t even mention that to us. I figured it was worth the few extra hundred dollars if it truly did help with the allergens.
I can’t wait to try out our new appliance set. They will be delivered/installed on Wednesday.
