Dear PlayStation Network Hackers

HackerIt has been positively awful since you brought down our livelihood. The sad part is that I truly don’t think you realize how your actions didn’t affect who they were aimed towards. The people that were affected were the ones that had nothing to do with the issue.

This has been a wonderful and motivating journey trying to teach my children how holding a grudge and retaliating doesn’t just affect the one that they are upset at, but rather everyone else. It is the ripple effect. You throw a rock in the water, and at the middle is where the least amount of damage done but the ripples continue to flow outward for quite a ways, affecting everything outside of the initial attack zone.

I truly understand that you were upset, but being upset doesn’t help you to achieve greater things.  In the end, you will never be satisfied, even if at the current moment you are basking in your glory. Trust me when I say, that feeling will be short lived.

Think about how much cooler you would be, and how much you would be liked if you would channel all of your aggressions into something more productive.

As of right now, you have turned your aggression from being directed at Sony’s PlayStation Network -  causing it to be taken down for multiple days – into a situation where now you have approximately 70 million people pissed off at you. If I had to take a guess, we the people outnumber your asses.

Perhaps a great punishment would be for the PlayStation Network Hackers to babysit all of our children for the same length of time as the outage lasts.

What are everyone else’s thoughts on creative punishment?

Sony’s PlayStation Network Down: Epic Fail or Something Sinister

Game ControllerI am honestly shocked and frustrated about the Sony’s PlayStation Network being down.

We just purchased Socom 4 on the release date as a birthday gift for my husband.

Since our children are always so anxious about playing video games, we use the motivating tactic that involves earning time on the PS3. In order to earn playing time they need to do their chores, and make sure their homework is done.

Everyone has been on their best behavior, and I promised them that when the weekend started they could try out the new game. Unfortunately, as of right now, they still can’t play online.

What makes this so frustrating, is that Sony has yet to send out any notification email or anything on this situation.

Granted, there is a ton of speculation on why this has happened, and whether “Anonymous” Hackers were involved. Who cares – just get it done!

We are well into day 2 – and still it is down. I think it’s time to redirect our focus from, “Who did it?” to the more important question, “When will it be fully operating?”.

What will the kids do now – it’s really wet and cold outside.

Are you kidding me!

Another news headline that just makes you think to yourself: are you kidding me!

In the latest and most bizarre news headlines there was a six year old kindergartner that brought a loaded pistol to school. The pistol fell out of his pocket and fired during lunch – injuring not only himself, but also two other classmates. Luckily, the injuries were not life threatening.

While reading multiple stories on this story, I kept thinking to myself how can such a thing happen? Being a parent, and also an advocate of owning firearms – of which we own several – comes the responsibility of not only teaching your children firearms safety, but also making sure that the firearms are safely kept away.

Children, by nature, are so curious about everything. They tend to venture into situations that can be deemed hazardous without understanding the consequences of their actions. We as parents are the ones to teach them how to make correct choices, and also watch their every move.

I sometimes wonder how a parent could allow something like this to happen, and the only reason I can ever come up with, is the lack of parental guidance. Honestly, if we are not the ones supervising our children, then who is going to do it? Most bizarre and tragic situations could be prevented if only we did our job as parents.

Chicago School Thinks We Are Stupid

First, check out this article: Chicago school bans some lunches brought from home

WOW! I don’t even know where to begin. This is so wrong, on so many different levels. What a slap in the face to any parent! Can you believe the audacity of this principal? Apparently, she thinks that we’re just too stupid to make intelligent decisions – our own choices – about what our kids eat. Well, she does put a slight spin on it, pointing out that, “her intention is to protect the students from their own unhealthful food choices”. Right. The students. Totally surreal – doesn’t this just seem like something taken right out of some conspiracy theorist’s manifesto, where government is dictating our choices in order to “protect us from ourselves”.

Can you believe how long this has gone on?

I don’t know about you, but if my children’s school came to me with this “policy”, I’d be all over that – immediately. Sure, now that there is a spotlight on this – six years later – the spokeswoman says that, “there is no formal policy”. Judging by all of the comments from the parents and children, it sure doesn’t look like that was the case now does it…?

It’s not bad enough that whether we utilize the service or not (private school, anyone?), we are forced to pay for it, but talk about adding insult to injury – now some of them want to take away our freedom of choice?
