This is a simple variant of a quick and easy angel food cake dessert. The cutting up of the angel food, and folding together really enhances the texture of this one.
If you have the time, be sure to top it off with some homemade whipped cream. I prefer this over the store-bought varieties.
Angel Food Cake Dessert
Things you will need:
Angel food cake (store-bought is just fine)
2 Tubs of Cool Whip® or homemade whipped cream (see recipe)
Your choice of fruit: eg. berries, bananas, canned crushed pineapple, mandarine oranges
(you will need approx 1 1/2 – 3 cups + 1/2 cup for decoration)
Now let’s get started:
You need to cut the angel food cake into bite size pieces
Cut the fruit or drain the juices if using canned fruit
Put the cut up angel food cake into a large mixing bowl
Fold in 1 1/2 tubs or appox. 4 cups (homemade) whipped cream until all the angel food cake pieces are well coated – making sure not to smash the angel food cake pieces
Add the fruit – fold in the fruit until it is all mixed in
Transfer the mix into a pretty bowl or onto a pretty platter
Add the 1/2 cup fruit on top for decoration
Eat and enjoy!
